Emma turns 2

So this is a little late....but her due date was Nov 3rd ;0)

We started trying to get pregnant in September of 2008. Finally after 6 months and two early miscarriages we got pregnant! Needless to say I was VERY nervous and just hoping and praying this would stick.  Finally after around 12 weeks I felt like I could breathe again. That only lasted a short while....During my pregnancy they discovered a "cyst" on my ovary that continued to grow. We found out we were having a girl and she looked perfect! We started to be followed every few weeks with Maternal Fetal medicine at South Shore re: the large cyst on my ovary. This at the time was fine with me because that meant we got a peek at Emma. But before long the cyst was becoming so large that they could not be certain it wasn't cancerous and they had us meeting with an OB oncologist. I could not believe this was happening, and every possible scenario ran through my head. And all we could do was wait until delivery to find out for sure. Time went on and lots of internet research and I was able to relax and try to enjoy the last few weeks of my pregnancy. At about 38 weeks Adam and I went to Tim and Bethany's Halloween party. My plan was to pop in and say hi and leave Adam at the party. And I did just that ... I left to go pick up the girls from my mom. On my way home from picking up Kaylah and Alivia I started to get this pain out of nowhere. The pain quickly intensified to the point  when I pulled in my driveway I was screaming to Kaylah to get Alivia out of her car seat.  I finally got a hold of Adam after probably 50 tries. He said his parents were driving him to our house. The pain was so extreme that I called 911. The weather was awful, pouring and very windy so I knew if I didn't call the ambulance it would make for an even longer car ride to SSH. Finally after days of tests they decided it would be best to just deliver that baby. So they gave me the epidural to stop the pain and started the pitocin. After a few hours they doctor came into check me and I had not progressed. She asked for the US machine to be wheeled in, as she was not sure if she was feeling fingers or toes. To much surprise Emma had turned breech over night. She then explained to us that we needed to have a C-section. That was devastating to hear and I was so nervous... I never would have thought I would need to be delivered this way. She also explained that during delivery she would remove the cyst and possibly the ovary and have it sent to pathology for testing. Finally after a smooth uneventful c-section my sweet sweet Emma was born weighing 9lbs 3oz (same as Alivia) and 21 inches long!

ps.. after a long 2 weeks the biopsy came back as a benign serous cystadenoma
Huge sigh of relief!

Words can not truly describe how it felt to hold this beautiful baby in my arms.

In that moment when I first laid eyes on her she made all of the heartache and worry worth  EVERY second

My mom snuck in the recovery room to be the first to meet Emma

We could not wait for the girls to meet her. I think it was close to 10 pm and they were there waiting :0)
And what an amazing feeling it was to introduce the girls to their new best friend!

I really cant believe how fast these 2 years have flown by. And I often look back at these pictures and cant help but to feel sad. Today Emma is.................

Full of toddler energy

She is a love-bug who loves to give hugs and kisses

Probably one of the smartest 2 year olds I know, she amazes us everyday with the things she says

She loves music and dancing

She has turned into a picky eater hopefully not for long (we got some great tips from her Pedi)

She would be happy to eat chicken nuggets, pizza, and Annies everyday!

She is a great napper 2-3 hours still

She loves to sing you are my sunshine and the ABC's every night before bed

She still needs her sound machine, fan and binky to sleep

She sleeps from 7:30 pm until 6:30-7 am

She loves her sisters and tends to favor Alivia at the moment. When ever I give her a juice box or fruit snacks she says " One for Alivia too"

She loves real life babies and playing with her baby dolls

She currently has a huge obsession with the movie Rio and calls it "Baby Rio" this is the ONLY show/movie she will sit for, other than that she has no interest in TV......unless its a Taylor Swift music video :0)

Emma's 2 year check up was last week. She looked perfect!

Weighing in at almost 32 pounds
&
36 inches long

She is wearing a 3t/4t and size 8 shoe!

Sweet Sweet Emma Kate you ARE my sunshine! I love the time we get to spend together. The other night you were my little date, just me and you. We went to the mall and went Panara for dinner. I dont mind that you where climbing all over the booth, didn't touch you mac and cheese and ignored me to talk to all the kids that walked by. It makes me proud that you are growing up and learninto be such a good girl like your two older sisters. An older man that worked at Panera came up to us and said " Enjoy her.... my daughter, my best friend just turned 18 and I sure miss those days" I know this is true and I remind myself of this daily. I am so very  lucky to be your mom, and so very thankful for you....Love you Em xoxoxo
